After being severely injured and then being left for dead while fighting Superman in the dead of night in the streets of Gotham City, Bruce Wayne slowly wakes up to find himself tied to a chair, with tape over his mouth, as he sees two familiar faces. One of them says: "Hello, batsy. Let's say Slade here gave you the chill pill when neither you or your friend weren't looking. Now, I'll just leave you two to celebrate my party together, while I go to Metropolis. See ya!!" before leaving Bruce alone with the second man, who holds a crowbar tightly in the palm of one hand.
