One year has passed since Dick Grayson's adoption and now, the dynamic duo is continuing its fight against crime. But Bruce is increasingly protective of Dick, afraid of losing him as well as his parents in the past and this gets even worse when the Joker returns worse than ever, always trying to play with Batman’s mind and trying to create any friction between Batman and Robin. In the end, Joker captures Dick and tortures him inside Wayne's mansion and then blows him up, killing Bruce's son, pushing him to the limit almost killing the clown and being stopped by Gordon. Because of his guilt, Bruce retires as Gotham's bat.
