Ivy Pepper is the daughter of the late Mario and Alice Pepper. She has an unhealthy obsession with plants, often finding more comfort and affection from them than in people. She became an orphan when her father was shot by Harvey Bullock in defense of James Gordon's life, causing her mother to commit suicide. She was then left on the streets homeless, and became sickly until Selina Kyle befriended her and showed her the ropes to Gotham's underworld.
