A new drug empire, Nigma Industries, pops up in Gotham city with Edward Nigma as CEO. At almost the same time, groups of people getting "fear gassed", and a string of robberies with puzzle boxes at them have popped up. Catwoman comes back to town but as a partner for Bruce rather than for crime. As Batman works the case, he finds that the chemical compound in the fear gas can only be found at one Nigma Industries laboratory run by Jonathan Crane. When Batman visits the lab Crane gasses Batman and beats him while asking what makes the Batman tick then leaves Batman to his fears. Batman goes to the CEO and interrogates him about the links to Crane and how he let Crane in charge. Something clicks in his head that Nigma is the puzzle box guy or, “The Riddler”. Batman goes to the cave and realizes all clues lead to Nigma's various warehouses. Alfred comes into the cave and shows that in each warehouse, a fear gas bomb was set off. Batman immediately goes back to Nigma Industries and finds Nigma isn’t there but Crane is. Crane gasses Batman but Batman overpowers his fear, gives Crane a large dose, and leaves him for the police. Batman gets a call from Alfred about the bank that holds Nigma's net worth is being robbed. Batman races down to the bank and brawls his way through all of Riddler's entourage, he finds Riddler and beats the everloving out of him for what he did. Before he kills Riddler, Gordon comes in and convinces him not to and Batman walks away.
