Mike Flanagan (born May 20, 1978) is an American filmmaker best known for his horror work. Flanagan wrote, directed, produced, and edited the horror films Absentia (2011), Oculus (2013), Hush, Before I Wake, Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016), Gerald's Game (2017), and Doctor Sleep (2019). He created, wrote, produced, and served as showrunner on the Netflix horror series The Haunting of Hill House (2018), The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020), Midnight Mass (2021), The Midnight Club (2022), and The Fall of the House of Usher (2023), also directing and editing some if not all episodes of each. Flanagan is married to actress Kate Siegel, who has been featured in most of his works since Oculus. They also wrote the screenplay of Hushtogether. Bruce Wayne has been Batman for twelve years now, but those twelve years haven't been kind to him, his partner, Dick Grayson, has long abandoned him to become his own man. Bruce and his more extreme methods of dealing with the criminals has cause mistrust between him and Gordon. One night, Batman goes to Arkham Asylum to contain a riot, but the Asylum is soon locked down by Hugo Strange, the lead psychiatrist of Arkham Asylum, and his partner, the man formerly known as Scarecrow, Johnathan Crane. The two activate a virus that infects all the inmates turning them more crazed and powerful. Now Batman along with Gordon, Nightwing, Oracle, and other allies need to stop the virus from getting out of the Asylum and infecting Gotham City.
