Denis Villeneuve (born October 3, 1967) is a Canadian filmmaker. He has received seven Canadian Screen Awards as well as nominations for three Academy Awards, five BAFTA Awards, and two Golden Globe Awards. Villeneuve's films have grossed more than $1.8 billion worldwide. Villeneuve began his career in his home country, directing four French-language dramas: August 32nd on Earth (1998); Maelström (2000); Polytechnique (2009), a dramatisation of the 1989 École Polytechnique massacre; and Incendies (2010). The last of these gained him international prominence and earned a nomination for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. He expanded to English-language films by directing the thrillers Prisoners (2013), Enemy (2013), and Sicario (2015). Villeneuve gained wider recognition for directing science fiction films. His work on Arrival (2016) earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Director. This was followed by Blade Runner 2049 (2017), which was critically lauded but financially unsuccessful. His next projects were Dune (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024), a two-part adaptation of Frank Herbert's novel of the same name. Both films were critically and commercially successful, with the former earning him Academy Award nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture.

In Gotham City, two criminals get taken down by the vigilante called Batman. Years ago, when the Billionaire Bruce Wayne was 10, he witnessed his parents getting murdered and he was raised by his butler Alfred. When he was older he left Gotham on a quest to learn every skill and martial art known to man. In the present day, he has been fighting crime for over a year. He uses a bat costume symbolizing his childhood fear of them and calls himself Batman. He has a lot of gadgets, thanks to the top tech expert at his company, Lucius Fox. Batman takes down criminals while also having to run away from the GCPD, his only ally in the force is Lt. Jim Gordon. After Batman has taken down most of the criminal businesses, the 4 biggest mob bosses in Gotham get together, Carmine Falcone, Sal Maroni, Tony Zucco and Roman Sionis. They all decide to hire 4 assassins to take down Batman. They hire Victor Zsasz, Catwoman, Bane and Deadshot. They all get their opportunity to take down Batman, but Batman defeats all of them. Batman lets Catwoman go after realizing she's not a killer. During Deadshot's apprehending, he manages to shot one last bullet at Batman, but the Commissioner, Peter Grogan gets in the way after realizing Batman is a hero. Jim Gordon gets promoted to Commissioner after Grogan's passing and decides to make the GCPD and Batman work together. Jim tells Batman about a heist at ACE Chemicals which makes Batman remember of a time a criminal with a red helmet fell in there.
