Zachary Edward Snyder (born March 1, 1966) is an American filmmaker. He made his feature film debut in 2004 with Dawn of the Dead, a remake of the 1978 horror film of the same name. Since then, he has directed or produced a number of comic book and superhero films, including 300 (2006) and Watchmen (2009), as well as the Superman film that started the DC Extended Universe, Man of Steel (2013), and its follow-ups, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017), the latter of which had a director's cut released in 2021. He also directed the animated film Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole (2010), the psychological action film Sucker Punch (2011), the zombie heist film Army of the Dead (2021), and the two-part space opera films Rebel Moon (2023) and Rebel Moon—Part Two: The Scargiver (2024). In 2004, he founded the production company The Stone Quarry (formerly known as Cruel and Unusual Films) alongside his wife Deborah Snyder and producing partner Wesley Coller. In the prime universe, there exists Bruce Wayne, a man who became the Batman after losing his parents and girlfriend, Rose. There is also Arthur Fleck, a former circus clown who was critically injured by Slade Wilson and turned to a life of crime under the alias of "the Joker". But in this universe, Bruce and Arthur both are dead. In their places stand Thomas Wayne, who is the Batman of what is known as the "Flashpoint" timeline, and Martha Wayne, who takes Arthur's place as the Joker. Now, Thomas is faced with shame and rage in the eyes of the public, at least in his image of Gotham's Dark Knight, for putting down the threat of a Man of Steel turned evil. And after the death of his first son, Thomas Wayne, Jr., at the hands of the Joker, Batman must confront the Ravager/Rose Wilson from wreaking havoc upon the city, alongside the former District Attorney Gil Coulson/Two-Face, and Yo-Yo, formerly Doctor Harleen Quinzel of Arkham Asylum.
