Alexander "Alex" Proyas (born 23 September 1963) is an Australian filmmaker. He is best known for directing the films The Crow (1994), Dark City (1998), I, Robot (2004), Knowing (2009), and Gods of Egypt (2016).
Set in in the year 2025, Gotham City is now a futuristic metropolis known as Neo-Gotham and it has been nearly two decades since Bruce Wayne retired as Batman following issues on his last mission. Soon, high-school student Terry McGinnis is saved by a now-elderly Bruce from a gang of thugs and when Terry's father is murdered under mysterious circumstances, a reluctant Bruce agrees to help train Terry to become the new Batman, one beyond all expectations.
