King Lionel is a strict, traditional, and protective man who is the ruler of Guardania and father to Isabella. Aware of rival noble factions watching for any sign of weakness, and with Isabella growing up without a mother figure, he closely monitors her every move, believing that perfect decorum is the only way to shield her from scrutiny and exploitation. Unbeknownst to him, the chief chamberlain, Cassius, subtly manipulates the family’s decisions, worsening the kingdom’s decline and testing Isabella at every turn. Though Lionel acts out of love and fear of losing his daughter, his rigid expectations, combined with the chamberlain’s schemes, make Isabella’s choices, and her pursuit of happiness, far more difficult.
