Iris Stahlbaum, an orphaned English girl who takes up ballet, finds a letter from a ballet school in Paris, which encourages her to follow in her late mother's footsteps. Upon arriving in France, she meets two new best friends, Layla Cesaire and Celine Park, and discovers her beloved pink ballet slippers, which her late mother had worn before. Now, Iris has discovered the truth about the world of ballet and is studying at the ballet school alongside her classmate and rival, Sandra Bourgeois.
