The film is presented as a televised production of a play in 1955. The plot of the play concerns a competition for young paleontologists accompanied by their parents in the little town of Manfred, Arizona, during which a million year old caveman iced under the sand comes out hibernation and escapes, causing the whole convention to be put under quarantine. (heavily inspired by "Asteroid City")
