The idea was this "Nick Fury" was from the Ultimate Universe, the universe in which all the old failed over-the-top takes on Marvel heroes from the mid-90s to early 2000s (with the exception of Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man) resided in. This Fury was imagined as the same Fury from the made for TV movie: "Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD". That version was portrayed by the Hoffmeister himself. I envisioned Secret Wars and Kang Dynasty as a massive celebration of all Comic Book (not just Marvel!) adaptations as a whole. If it weren't for this reasoning I wouldn't have casted the Hoff-Man, believe me. It's on mycast for a reason so believe me when I say, I encourage different opinions.
