On the verdant extraterrestrial planet of Pandora reside the Na'vi, entities that may seem primitive yet are remarkably advanced. Due to the toxic nature of the planet's atmosphere, hybrids of humans and Na'vi, known as Avatars, must connect with human consciousness to facilitate movement across Pandora. Jake Sully, a former Marine who is paralyzed, regains his mobility through one of these Avatars and develops romantic feelings for a Na'vi female. As his relationship with her deepens, he becomes involved in a conflict for the preservation of her world.
