Mac Gargan was a criminal known as "The Scorpion" who was easily stopped by Spider-Man when he tried to hold up a mart at a gas station, threatening to shoot at the gasoline he spilled if people didn't comply. He gets a visitor named John Jameson who wanted to get rid of Spider-Man. Gargan told Jameson about a prototype suit he stole from Oscorp before he got arrested. It was at his old home and hideout in a condemned apartment building in room #97 (reference to the issue number of Scorpion's first appearance).
