M83 (French: [ɛm katʁ(ə)vɛ̃tʁwɑ]) is a French electronic rock group formed in Antibes in 1999. Initially a duo of multi-instrumentalists Nicolas Fromageau and Anthony Gonzalez, Fromageau parted ways shortly after touring for their second album Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts.[9] Gonzalez remains the sole constant member of the project, as the primary songwriter and lead vocalist.[A] The band has released nine studio albums, including the Grammy Award-nominated Hurry Up, We're Dreaming, in addition to two soundtracks. Gonzalez records primarily on his own, with numerous guest musicians. The band is signed to Mute Records and found breakout success in 2011 with "Midnight City", Hurry Up, We're Dreaming's lead single. Their sound has been described as dream pop, new wave, shoegaze, as well as ambient.[12]
Erin, a stunning but bookish teenager from a nowhere town, dreams of escaping to the world of high fashion. When a scout from "Aura," a seemingly prestigious New York modeling agency, discovers her at a local fair, it feels like a dream come true. Aura's charismatic leader, Fabian, promises Erin a meteoric rise to the top. Whisked away to New York, Erin is initially dazzled by the luxurious lifestyle, the designer clothes, and the seemingly endless photoshoots. However, strange things begin to happen. The other models, all impossibly beautiful, are eerily emotionless. Erin stumbles upon cryptic symbols hidden in the clothing designs and unsettling rituals performed during late-night "meditation sessions." As Erin delves deeper, she uncovers the horrifying truth. Aura is a coven in disguise, led by a powerful immortal named Selene. They believe beauty is fleeting and needs to be captured for eternity. The "photoshoots" are actually dark magic rituals, draining the life force from the models to sustain Selene's youth. Erin must find a way to escape before she becomes the next sacrifice. She finds an unlikely ally in a jaded former model, Nadia, who managed to escape Aura years ago but bears the physical scars of the ritual. Together, they must expose the coven and find a way to break the magic before it's too late.
