Gwyneth Kate Paltrow (/ˈpæltroʊ/ PAL-troh; born September 27, 1972) is an American actress and businesswoman. The daughter of filmmaker Bruce Paltrow and actress Blythe Danner, she established herself as a leading lady, appearing primarily in mid-budget and period films during the 1990s and early 2000s, before transitioning to blockbusters and franchises. Her accolades include an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Primetime Emmy Award. Paltrow gained notice for her early work in films such as Seven (1995), Emma (1996), Sliding Doors (1998), and A Perfect Murder (1998). She garnered wider acclaim for her role as Viola de Lesseps in the historical romance Shakespeare in Love (1998), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress. After the events of Secret Invasion, Colonel James Rhodes wakes up to discover that he had been kidnapped by the Skrulls and replaced back in 2016 after he had been hospitalized during Civil War. Now needing to learn to walk and what has happened in the 10 years since he was taken. Rhodey learns that he was robbed of the last moments that he had with his best friend Tony, and what happened to him during the battle of earth. He gets to meet Tony’s daughter Morgan, but after knowing everything that he missed he sets out to get revenge against all of the Skrulls that robbed him of his life and friend. While on his mission Rhodes learns of Ritson’s declaration against aliens and agrees to help him. He then also finds out about how many people now have armor similar to Tony’s and sets off to get all of the tech and keep them from tarnishing the legacy of Tony Stark. All of this leads to Colonel Rhodes accepting and truly embodying the name: War Machine.
