The Fast and the Furious is the first Fast & Furious arcade game based on the First Film of the franchise. However, the vehicles used in 2 Fast 2 Furious are featured in the game as well. It was released in July 28th, 2004, developed and published by Raw Thrills. They can be viewed as a spiritual successor to the Cruis'n series, as they contain many similar elements and were both designed by Eugene Jarvis. The original arcade game was even ported to the Wii under the name Cruis'n, with all elements of the film license removed. It would receive an expansion 2 years later with The Fast and the Furious: Drift, adding elements of the third film. In 2011 a second update, The Fast and the Furious: Super Cars was released, adding all-new cars, tracks from the sister series Super Bikes, and upgrading the game to high-definition graphics. In 2023 the first game and Drift would be re-released by Arcade1up.
