Saoirse Una Ronan (/ˈsɜːrʃə ˈuːnə ˈroʊnən/ SUR-shə OO-nə ROH-nən; born 12 April 1994) is an American-born Irish actress. Primarily known for her work in period dramas since adolescence, she has received various accolades, including a Golden Globe Award and nominations for four Academy Awards and seven British Academy Film Awards. Ronan made her acting debut in 2003 on the Irish medical drama series The Clinic and had her breakthrough role as a precocious teenager in the period drama film Atonement (2007), which earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her career progressed with starring roles in The Lovely Bones (2009) and Hanna (2011) and a supporting role in The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014). Ronan received critical acclaim and nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actress for playing an Irish immigrant in New York in Brooklyn (2015), the eponymous high school senior in Greta Gerwig's Lady Bird (2017)—which won her a Golden Globe—and Jo March in Gerwig's Little Women (2019). Arthur Curry, son of lighthouse keeper Tom Curry and Atlanna the queen of Atlantis, works as the new lighthouse keeper after his father's passing. One morning he gets a visit from Vulko, the Atlantean that trained him. Vulko presents him to Mera, who tells him it's time for him to meet his mother and claim his throne since the king is dead. Years ago, a navy seal, found a dying Atlantean on a beach shore. He got obsessed with his tech and decided to find Atlantis for himself. After the navy discharged him for his obsession, he stayed on a boat near the beach for many years pretending to be a Fisherman, so the people from a town nearby gave him that nickname. Fisherman allied with Dr. Stephen Shin, a marine biologist who also knew about the existence of Atlantis and believed they posed a threat to humanity. In the present Arthur visits Atlantis for the first time and meets his mother and half brother Orm. Fisherman storms in their palace and tries to kill Arthur, but Vulko gets in the way. After Vulko dies on Arthur's arms, he follows Fisherman back to the surface where they battle, but Fisherman gets away. Arthur and Mera leave the kingdom to Orm and Mera's student Garth. After a long search, Arthur and Mera find Shin, who tells them Fisherman's location. They fight him ina warehouse, but Mera gets injured, so they retrieve to Atlantis. Fisherman confronts them one last time and Arthur beats him with honor. Arthur accepts the throne and sits beside Mera and Orm.
