In the wake of the Justice League's fateful encounter, Arthur Curry doth persist in his noble role as the sovereign of Atlantis, standing steadfast beside his beloved Queen Mera, who bears within her womb their future heir. Yet, the tides of fate soon shift when the ancient monarch of Atlantis, known as Atlan, is resurrected from the depths of time, yearning for his trident and the throne that Arthur now occupies. Thus, Aquaman, alongside the valiant Mera and his young apprentice Garth, who shall come to be known as Aqualad, must rally to defend Atlantis against the malevolent Dead King and his legion of monstrous denizens of the deep.
