Ant-Man is a 2011 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics Ant-Man characters Hank Pym. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Paramount Pictures, it is the eighth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Edgar Wright from a screenplay by the writing teams of Wright & Joe Cornish and Adam McKay. It stars Patrick Wilson as Hank Pym / Ant-Man alongside Corey Stoll, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Patton Oswalt, Penélope Cruz, Wood Harris, Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen and Michael Douglas. In the film, Hank Pym discovers a formula that allows him to shrink to the size of an Ant but must keep it out of the hands of people who want to exploit it.
