In 1978, young Buddy Baker returns from a walk in the forest transformed. He is now connected to the Red, the network that links all animal life on Earth. As a result, Buddy becomes a hero with the ability to tap into the powers of animals. Seventeen years later, Buddy is now the father of Cliff and Maxine, as well as the devoted husband of Ellen Frazier. After retiring from his hero career to focus on his dream of acting, inspired by Botson Brandt and Rita Farr, Buddy decides to come out of retirement to showcase his full potential. Buddy must learn to balance family life with hero life, confront villains like Felix Faust, meet his creator, team up with heroes like Nowhere Man, but above all, he must escape the watchful eye of Argus. Amanda Waller, in fact, aims to create a hero by combining the power of the Green and the Red in what she calls Project Ascension (Black Orchid). However, Buddy's greatest challenge will be Anton Arcane, an avatar of the Parliament of Decay and a former member of the Nazi party.
