A wheelchair-bound scientific genius and Quest's former colleague, now consumed by obsession. Surd believes the Brahmastra can usher in a golden age of free energy—and he's willing to sacrifice anything, including Quest's wife, to prove it. He is the architect of the plot, genuinely convinced he is saving humanity.
