Benjamin Franklin Parker, Peter's uncle, dies tragically when a robber shoots him during an attempted robbery. Peter, in an act of negligence, had let the same robber escape from a store. Ben confronts the criminal in the street, and in the struggle for the gun, he is shot and dies in Peter's arms.
