William Henry Blore is a retired police inspector who is accused of committing perjury before court, resulting in the death of an innocent man. The suspicion mounting against him only increases when it is discovered that he blatantly lied about the nature of his invitation. Despite what anyone says about him, however, he personally harbors deep distrust for Philip Lombard, the deadly-looking guest who just so happened to bring a gun to the party....
