Many years ago, the kingdom of Amphibia once lived in harmony, with King Andreas watching over the land. He held a magical music box that could teleport him to different worlds, one of them being Earth. Several hundred years ago, however, a thief stolen the music box from the king without any evidence on who or what they were. The empire fell into chaos shortly after, as Andreas locked himself along with his followers in Newtopia. 15 years later, in Earth, a 16 year girl named Anne arrives at St. James High School with her bike. She's confronted by Maggie who attempts to steal her lunch, however, Sasha, Anne's friend, stops her just in time. It's Anne birthday today, and Sasha wants to celebrate by taking her out to "have fun." After school's over, they do a lot of things that Anne isn't fond of, but does it anyway to please Sasha. After that, they hang out at the local ice cream place, where Marcy sends them an image of the Calamity Box in an antique shop, and urges Anne to steal it. She obliges, and takes it from the shop, only then to open it later that night and be teleported to Amphibia. Weeks later, the Plantar family is out shopping when they hear about a beast from the woods, which makes Sprig Plantar intrigued and goes out to look for it.
