Patrick Bateman, a successful young CEO in the high-stakes world of Silicon Valley, is the epitome of modern privilege. Obsessed with image, materialism, and social media clout, he spends his days navigating high-profile deals and his nights engaging in increasingly brutal acts of violence. As Bateman's desires spiral out of control, his grip on reality unravels. The story shifts between sleek, polished surfaces of the tech world and the brutal, primal depths of Bateman’s psyche. In Guadagnino's hands, the film becomes a haunting character study, exploring themes of narcissism, the commodification of human life, and the sinister underbelly of digital culture. Bateman’s cold detachment from the world around him is heightened by the contrast between the beauty of his environment and the grotesque violence of his actions.
