First Appearance: Time and the Rani. Robin Williams was introduced to be a more light-hearted take on the Doctor, and also to boost ratings due to Williams' popularity, though the show's quality still suffered, leading to its cancellation in 1989 anyway, though Williams' Seventh Doctor is praised as one of the most interesting takes on the character, overtime becoming much darker and more manipulative. Robin Williams would eventually reprise his role as the Seventh Doctor in the attempted reboot in 1996, now known colloquially as the 'TV Movie', where his incarnation would regenerate after being stabbed in a London alleyway.
