First Appearance: Rose. For the 2005 revival, Kripke wanted to explore the family aspects of the characters, fleshing out their terrestrial lives more than was custom in the classic series. This was first seen with Rose Tyler's mom, Jackie. They are a working class family living in New York City. Throughout the series she mainly serves as an anchor back home for Rose but eventually becomes a secondary companion herself, getting trapped in the parallel universe with Rose and her late husband, Pete, who was alive in that universe.
