James Hugh Calum Laurie CBE (born June 11, 1959), known professionally as Hugh Laurie, is an English actor, director, singer, musician, comedian, and author. He is known for portraying the title character on the Fox medical drama series House (2004–2012), for which he received two Golden Globe Awards and nominations for numerous other awards. He was listed in the 2011 Guinness World Records as the most watched leading man on television and was one of the highest-paid actors in a television drama, earning £250,000 ($409,000) per episode of House. His other television credits include arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper in the miniseries The Night Manager (2016), for which he won his third Golden Globe Award, and Senator Tom James in the HBO sitcom Veep (2012–2019), for which he received his 10th Emmy Award nomination. Forced to abandon rowing during a bout of glandular fever, he joined the Cambridge Footlights, a university dramatic club that has produced many well-known actors and comedians. There he met Emma Thompson, with whom he had a romantic relationship, which later ended yet they remain good friends. She introduced him to his future comedy partner, Stephen Fry. Laurie, Fry and Thompson later parodied themselves as the University Challenge representatives of "Footlights College, Oxbridge" in "Bambi", an episode of The Young Ones, with the series' co-writer Ben Elton completing their team.

After Ned Leeds was discovered to be the Hobgoblin Harry calls up his friend Miles Warren who tells Harry of his plan to make research facilities all over New York. Meanwhile Peter is at the Daily Bugle trying to get a new job until the Bugle is attacked by a man in a Jackal mask in what looks to be a cyclone Peter tries to rush into the back room to change into his suit but the man in the mask attacks specifically Peter. Peter manages to put on the mask and swings in to fight the man, but the man disappears. The man disappears and Peter starts glitching again. Later on, Harry starts realizing that Miles is being weird about his research and awfully secretive about what these facilities are really for. Meanwhile Peter is trying to find this new villain but keeps failing until he sees him attacking Time Square. Peter tries fighting him but the man now calling himself the Jackal shoots Peter in the shoulder. Peter now on the ground glitching like crazy looks up at the Jackal who flies away. Eventually Harry confronts Miles about what he is hiding but Miles grabs Harry and throws him on the ground about to kill him but just then Miles realizes Spider-Man followed him and found the lab and so Miles puts on his mask and bursts trough the wall ready to fight. Miles quickly gets Peter on the ground and stands over him. Peter looks up to see the Jackal with Harry Osborn by the throat about to kill him. Peter then gets up and webs Harry, but Miles then kills Harry.
