In these Hunger Games Peeta Mellark was a notable player from the start; he stole attention when he declared selfless love for his District partner, Katniss Everdeen. Due to the early death of the District 4 male tribute this year, Peeta was allowed to join the Career alliance; whom he misled on the way to find Katniss Everdeen. After being left for dead by the Careers Peeta met up with Katniss, who attempted to nurse him back to health; the two survived to the final day of the Games, past the death of the District 2 male tribute; where they threatened to commit double suicide to the Gamemakers. As a result both were allowed live; as of 75 AR Peeta is still alive age 17.
