Kate Kane is the cousin of Bruce Wayne who was expelled from West Point for having a gay relationship with a cadet named Sophie Moore. After being expelled, she was saved by Batman and inspired to become the vigilante known as Batwoman. Her notable relationships include Maggie Sawyer and Renee Montoya. Her archenemy is her twin sister Beth Kane/Red Alice. She first appeared in 52 #7 in 2006 and was created by Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid, and Keith Giffen. She is a completely different character from the Silver Age Batwoman, Kathy Kane, who is later known as Katherine Webb and Katrina Netz.
