Kintoki hails from the Heian period of Japan. He was formerly known by the name "Kintaro" (金太郎, Kintarō) and was known for his feats of superhuman strength as a child. He came to be renamed as "Sakata Kintoki" after joining the arms of Minamoto-no-Raiko and thus becoming the "Greatest Demon Slayer of the Heian Period" (平安時代最強の鬼斬り, Heian Jidai Saikyō no Onikiri). Renowned in equal measures for both his strength and heart of gold, he possesses a formidable drive to destroy all monsters in order to protect the world, even those among the gods themselves. Among the Einherjar, he is the twelfth to fight in Ragnarok, going against Odin.
