Doctor Barry Mayfield is the main antagonist of the Columbo episode "A Stitch in Crime", which aired in 1973 as part of the show's second season. Mayfield is a brilliant but deeply narcissistic and calculating heart surgeon who attempts to murder his elderly colleague, Dr. Edmund Hidemann, to gain sole credit for their shared medical research.
