Sabata is the titular protagonist of the spaghetti western film trilogy directed by Gianfranco Parolini.
Characterized as a steely-eyed, impeccably dressed gunslinger with a mastery of gadgets and trick weaponry, Sabata is a former Confederate officer who uses his superior intellect and an array of gadget-like weapons—such as a specialized four-barrelled derringer and a rifle with an extendable barrel—to outmaneuver corrupt officials and outlaws.
He was famously played by Lee Van Cleef in Sabata (1969) and Return of Sabata (1971). Yul Brynner played a similar character in the second film, Adiós, Sabata (1970), originally named "Indio Black" but renamed Sabata for international audiences.
