A brother and sister Carlitta Dodds (Natalie Portman) and Jimmy Dodds (Tobey Maguire) stumble upon a mysterious pen that unleashes a darkness, empowering them to craft a vibrant twisted community where artistic visions become living nightmares, and the lines between reality and terror blur.
