Fan Casting Doctor Alexandre Manette in A Tale of Two Cities

A physician from Beauvais, France and Lucie’s father. He had been secretly imprisoned at the Bastille Prison in Paris for 18 years, which took a traumatic toll on his mentality. He also developed a hobby of shoemaking that he taught himself while in prison but was eventually “resurrected” with his daughter Lucie’s loving care. While he could maintain a normal lifestyle in his medical career, he is in despair after learning his son-in-law Darnay is related to the Evrémondes. After Darnay is arrested, Doctor Manette attempts to save him, but an old letter found in his old cell tragically results in Darnay’s fate and Carton’s sacrifice.
