In a very special episode of Sonic X, Adult Chris Thorndyke invites Sonic and his friends back at Station Square through the same portal they got into to discover and celebrate Christmas. Shadow is invited as well, back to Earth where Maria had wanted to go. Shadow has to let go of his deep character and enjoy the holiday on Earth with Sonic and everyone else because that's what Maria would've wanted. Shadow tags along with Rouge, Omega, and a little dark chao called Shade off on a journey of self-discovery while helping Sonic save Christmas from the evil old Dr. Egg-Claus.
