A close friend of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen, Connington was picked to be Hand of the King after Tywin Lannister resigned the position. He failed to end Robert's Rebellion and was exiled for that mistake. He later joined the Golden Company but was kicked out when caught stealing from the company war chests. According to rumors, he then drank himself to death a year later.
