Fan Casting Dianna Farrington in A Hollywood Story

Dianna is one of the main characters in the musical film noir A Hollywood Story. Dianna is a black singer from New Jersey who becomes affiliated in the murder mystery as the ex-girlfriend of the victim. Dianna's story began in 1941 when she was 17, starting out in first all-black girl group at the time, The Songbirds. She became a part of the original group line-up, along with her sister Martha and her cousin Gloria. Although they were unsuccessful during their first round, they eventually just got better and better with time. In 1945, when the group was at the peak of their success, Dianna became hungrier for recognition. She started on as the lead singer for the group in July of the same year, pushing the others into background singers, much to the dismay of Gloria, especially when they found out the group would then be named "Dianna and the Songbirds". Dianna and Gloria then got into a heated argument so bad; it got physical. Dianna then left the group in 1947, so she could go solo.
