Myla is a teenager from Seoul who moves to California and is forced to work as a janitor and dishwasher at her stepmother's restaurant. After a cell phone mix-up, Myla begins an anonymous relationship with a boy through text messages and emails. They arrange to meet at a school dance, but when Myla discovers that her secret pen pal is none other than Jonathan Stahlbaum, the most handsome boy in school, she panics and searches for a way to become more famous.
