Eugene Levy CM (born December 17, 1946) is a Canadian actor, known for his work in both Canadian and American movies and television series. He is the only actor to have starred in all seven of the American Pie films, as Noah Levenstein.
From 1976 until 1984, he appeared in the Canadian television sketch comedy seriesย SCTV. He is a regular collaborator of actor-directorย Christopher Guest, appearing in and co-writing four of his films, commencing withย Waiting for Guffmanย (1996).
In 2004, he won aย Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Mediaย for "A Mighty Wind" from theย film of the same nameย that he co-wrote. In 2008, he received theย Governor General's Performing Arts Award, Canada's highest honour in the performing arts. In 2019 and 2020, he was nominated for theย Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, which he won in 2020. Levy has won multiple accolades throughout his career including fourย Primetime Emmy Awardsย and aย Grammy Award.
He was appointed to theย Order of Canadaย on June 30, 2011.
From 2015 to 2020, he starred asย Johnny Roseย inย Schitt's Creek, a comedy series that he co-created with his son and co-starย Dan Levy. His daughter,ย Sarah Levy, portrays Twyla Sands, the waitress at the Schittโs Creek diner. His brother Fred is also a producer on the show.
