It is now confirmed that the Metal Sonic we've seen in the past two installments is the same one from Robopocalypse. In the final battle against Eggman, Metal admits "I never thought I'd die side by side with my arch-rival." Sonic replied "How about side-by-side with a friend?" If Metal could smile, this would be a perfect moment to. He even cried his first oil tear, saying "I . . . I could do that." In the climax of the battle, Metal will make the ultimate sacrifice to save the Sonicverse, and everyone in it.
