Ahmad ibn Fadlan, an Arabian poet from Baghdad, is exiled from his homeland and forced to venture into the Northern lands of Europe, where he is accepted into a band of Viking warriors, led by Beowulf.
Ahmad must help his Viking companions fight a tribe of cannibalistic warriors, and their savage leader, Grendel.
