Barkhad AbdiΒ (Somali:Β Barkhad Cabdi,Β IPA:[bΓ rxΓ‘dΜͺΒ ΚΓ‘bdΜͺΓ¬];Β born April 10, 1985) is aΒ Somali-AmericanΒ actor. He made his acting debut as the pirateΒ Abduwali MuseΒ in the biographical drama filmΒ Captain PhillipsΒ (2013), which earned him aΒ British Academy Film AwardΒ forΒ Best Actor in a Supporting Role, along withΒ Academy Award,Β Golden Globe Award, andΒ Screen Actors Guild AwardΒ nominations.
Following his breakthrough, Abdi appeared in the filmsΒ Eye in the SkyΒ (2015),Β Good TimeΒ (2017),Β The Pirates of SomaliaΒ (2017), andΒ Blade Runner 2049 (2017). Outside of film, he was featured as a series regular on the second season of theΒ HuluΒ horror anthologyΒ Castle RockΒ (2019) and had a recurring role in theΒ ShowtimeΒ satirical comedy seriesΒ The Curse (2023).
