David Kenneth HarbourΒ (born April 10, 1975) is an American actor. He has received nominations for aΒ Tony Award, aΒ Golden Globe Award, and twoΒ Primetime Emmy Awards.Β
David began his career acting inΒ Shakespearean theatre productions. After his professional debut onΒ BroadwayΒ in the 1999 revival ofΒ The Rainmaker, he was nominated for aΒ Tony Award for his performance in a production ofΒ Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?.Β He made his television debut onΒ Law & OrderΒ in 1999 and had supporting roles in films such asΒ Brokeback MountainΒ (2005),Β Revolutionary RoadΒ (2008) andΒ Black Mass (2015).
Harbour gained global recognition for his portrayal ofΒ Jim HopperΒ in theΒ NetflixΒ science fiction seriesΒ Stranger ThingsΒ (2016β2025), for which he received aΒ Critics' Choice Television AwardΒ as well as nominations for twoΒ Primetime Emmy Awards. His starring film roles include theΒ title characterΒ inΒ HellboyΒ (2019),Β Santa ClausΒ inΒ Violent Night (2022) and a former racer in the sports filmΒ Gran TurismoΒ (2023).
