Leonard Ian AbrahamsonΒ (born 30 November 1966) is an Irish film andΒ television director.Β He is best known for directing independent filmsΒ Β Adam & PaulΒ (2004),Β GarageΒ (2007),Β What Richard DidΒ (2012),Β FrankΒ (2014), andΒ RoomΒ (2015), all of which contributed to Abrahamson's sixΒ Irish Film and Television Awards.
In 2015, he received widespread recognition for directingΒ Room, based on theΒ novel of the same nameΒ byΒ Emma Donoghue. The film received four nominationsΒ at theΒ 88th Academy Awards, includingΒ Best Picture andΒ Best DirectorΒ for Abrahamson.Β In 2020, he directed six episodes of and executive produced the television seriesΒ Normal People, for which he was nominated for theΒ Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series.
