Carter Benedict BurwellΒ (born November 18, 1954) is an American film composer. He has frequently collaborated with theΒ Coen brothers, scoring most of their films. He has also scored films by other directors such asΒ Bill Condon,Β Todd Haynes,Β Spike Jonze,Β Martin McDonagh,Β James Foley,Β Brian Helgeland, andΒ John Lee Hancock. Burwell receivedΒ Academy AwardΒ nominations forΒ Best Original ScoreΒ for Haynes'sΒ CarolΒ (2015), McDonagh's filmsΒ Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, MissouriΒ (2017), andΒ The Banshees Of InisherinΒ (2022).
