Ian David McShane (born 29 September 1942) is a English actor. His television performances include the title role in theΒ BBC seriesΒ LovejoyΒ (1986β1994),Β Al SwearengenΒ inΒ DeadwoodΒ (2004β2006) and itsΒ 2019 film continuation, and Mr. Wednesday inΒ American GodsΒ (2017β2021). For the original series ofΒ Deadwood, McShane won theΒ Golden Globe Award for Best Actor β Television Series Drama and received a nomination for theΒ Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. As a producer of the film, he was nominated for theΒ Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Movie.
